Gave my boss an ultimatum today

I'm a preschool teacher for a private center. The owner called me 5 months ago after hearing that I was unhappy where I was and asked me to work for her. I have over a decade in the field and have a good reputation. She told me that she needed me to come in and model what a good teacher looks like and train the staff. It's been an absolute disaster. The co- teacher is downright awful to the kids. Yells at them, grabs them, uses “mean girl” talk towards them, and is all around negative. I've tried modeling positive interactions and behaviors. I've dove trainings. I've tried slowly changing some things in the classroom and the schedule but the co- teacher refuses to do anything and the aide is picking up on her bad habits. I'm a preschool teacher for a private center. The owner called me 5 months ago after hearing that I was unhappy where I was and asked me to work for her. I have over a decade in the field and have a good reputation. She told me that she needed me to come in and model what a good teacher looks like and train the staff.

It's been an absolute disaster. The co- teacher is downright awful to the kids. Yells at them, grabs them, uses “mean girl” talk towards them, and is all around negative. I've tried modeling positive interactions and behaviors. I've dove trainings. I've tried slowly changing some things in the classroom and the schedule but the co- teacher refuses to do anything and the aide is picking up on her bad habits.

Lately the director noticed that I've become the common enemy for a few staff members. They are straight up lying to the owner about me. The director told her last week that she needed to write them up and talk to them or risk losing me.

Today was the final straw. The co- teachers nephew is in my class and is a biter. The other day he was sent home for biting multiple times. He is very young and has special needs so we talked to him and redirected him away to other stations. I redirect him to a different area one time, the aide did it twice, his aunt did it twice as well. The mom told the owner that she was told by her son that I dragged him to a chair and put him in time out and yelled at him. None of that was true. The aide confirmed it was a lie.

A parent that was picking up their kids overheard the co- teacher talking to her sister. She listened while they admitted to lying and conspiring against me. Then she told me, the director, and the owner.

I told the owner that I'm fucking done. I was asked to fix things but I obviously am not the one to do that, and that it won't get done if she doesn't fire that lady. That she needs to be written up for the lie and honestly should be fired for it. If she isn't at least written up I'll fucking quit and that I have already started looking for a new job. I do not need this job and only agreed to work for her as a favor, but l will not put up with this shit.

Less then 5 minutes later I got a call for a job interview making $3-5 more an hour at a well respected preschool.
