My life has been hard. Covid has been hard. I started my own business to get away from all the shitty bosses after being fired by crazy effing people (I went on EI for a year and played video games nonstop thank you) and then covid messed it up.
This year I should do ok but I am a fine art school graduate and trying to understand payroll and taxes are warping my brain. I want to hire someone and pay them a living wage but figuring out the logistics is hard.
I was renovicted a couple of months ago after my landlords had previously told me I could buy the house in 4 years (this was year 3). They told me they wanted me to buy multiple times until the market blew up this year. I had a baby in this house because i thought it was a stable thing. I was set to purchase for next year. I spent my savings on the move instead of the purchase I was expecting.
When I moved I had to replace the washer/dryer in the house I was newly renting out as my business heavily depends on laundry. The new machines cost me $2500. The dryer was damaged upon delivery and within one week exactly the washer was broken. I had done nothing exceptional to cause this.
It took so much arguing back and forth to get Home Depot to replace the machines. Finally they agreed but I had to buy the replacement set without the refund money of the new set, so I’m out $5000.
They pick up the old set and give me the new set (LG, their machines are so much better, the old set is MayTag do not buy), April 12. I get an email April 14 that they got the old set.
No money is returned to me.
Today April 28 I contact them as ask what is up, where is my money. The first help agent says he’s on it then suddenly I’m talking to a new help agent, without warning.
He quickly refunds me for the original machines the gives me a discount on the new machines with minimal fuss.
This whole saga has cost me hours of time
that I do not have, I work constantly without days off, and this guy is the first guy to respect me as a human being and understand where I’m coming from in ages.
Maybe this is stupid and maybe this post will be removed, I just wanted to say Gavin from Home Depot in Canada thank you for being the first person in long time to take me seriously and treat me as a human being and for treating me fairly. I hope things go well for you in your near future.
