Gen Xer here, yes you were lied to

I keep seeing posts about your grandma made .75 an hour and lived in the suburbs, had a new car and a flat screen tv. They are lying or you are lying. My first job paid 4.25 and it was your grand parents running the world. On my 4.25 I had 2 room mates and we could barely afford an apartment in the poor areas. Car? Yeah right, my car was a bmx bike with a rusty chain. You are probably thinking I must of lived in NYC, or some other expensive metro. There was never a time in our country where min wage supported a family. You can argue that it should, but to outright lie about the past makes your movement look uneducated. Plus, your grandparents lived in houses with tube and knob electric systems, heated by fire places, no storage and so on. There is more technology in your microwave than your entire grandparents house.

I will never understand lying about things that are easily fact checked
