Post mainly for the GenX parents but I accept others may be in a similar mental space. This is not the world we were brought up to believe in. It's always been this way I know, but it's not the indoctrination we received. We brought kids, aka sentient life, into this world, only to have them subjugated. In the USA we're constantly battling against food insecurity, housing insecurity, medical bankruptcy.
My kids didn't ask to be born that's on me. The advancement in communication technologies, aka internet, has pulled the curtain back bigtime in the last 15 years and revealed that we were little more than cattle.
I feel like I wake up every morning both angry to be in a system like this and also resigned to working until either A) I drop, or B) they are in a place where basic food/housing/medicine isn't a worry and we can take a moment to breathe.
Both children have indicated no desire to have kids. Wife & I are bummed, not because “no grandchildren” but rather “yep, understandable, this world is brutal”.
Feels like our awareness is basically a “Voluntary Human Extinction” movement, or at least a “Voluntary USA extinction movement” as it seems our non-USA brothers are not in the same boat.
