My new job has a rule that you must call at least 2 hours before your shift starts.
I have been having severe sciatica pain that flares when I sit for long periods of time. I work from home and that requires sitting for long periods of time. Last week I took a few days off as advised by my doctor and, accompanied with rest and a steroid, am feeling much better.
I called into work to let them know I would be off until Monday. I called on Wednesday 2/22 4 times. One call was a mistake as I dialed the wrong department. We are required to make a separate call for each call off, and it is an automated system.
Apparently they considered my Friday a no call no show, despite me calling well in advance. I have been in contact with my boss for the whole last week about what's been going on, and even she knew I'd be out. I sent her a screenshot of my call logs and she said “well I can see you called on the 22nd, but not on the 24th.”
Yes, because I made 4 calls. You can see all 4 calls and when I made them.
Apparently because I didn't call on the exact day, and instead made the choice to do a batch of calls so that my adhd self wouldn't forget to call and get a nc/ns, I emd up getting a nc/ns anyways.
My boss said she's going to have to check with WFM to see if they'll take away the charge. If it sticks I'm stuck with a final warning I do nit deserve for 6 months.
Bullshit. If they're going to be this fucking dense then I will be maliciously compliant. I will ONLY ever follow their policies to the letter. And that includes not working while on the clock. Next time my boss calls me and I'm not on the clock, I will not answer. I will only ever call exactly 2 hours in advance.
Fuck them.
