I moved to Toronto in 2021 from the U.S. Since moving here I have been laid off 2 times for the most ridiculous reasons. 1st one was because the job was work from home and switched to in person. When I asked if I could work hybrid/remote, they immediately fired me. No debate, no conversation, just automatically fired for asking a question. Second was today. It was my second day at the job and I was asked to take calls when I had no clue what to do, so I asked if I could continue to shadow and take notes, which is apparently a sin. Both were corporate jobs.
Anyone else here facing the same thing? It feels like I can't get ahead in life. I don't know if its a universal thing or just the way jobs operate in Toronto. I feel so annoyed and discouraged.
