Getting laid off today.

I work for a software company in sales and two weeks ago we had a company wide meeting. They talked about how the company was “headed in a different direction”. Someone asked if there will be layoffs and they said that after the big wigs meet with the investors they will know more. I had a gut feeling that this wasn’t going to end well so I immediately submitted applications to other software companies. First one I applied to got back to me within the hour and I had 4 interviews in 4 days. Was offered the position last Friday. I was going to put my two weeks in on Friday but have a meeting today with the VP of Sales for a “Business Update” aka laid off as confirmed by others in my company that had the same meeting yesterday. I’m so lucky I waited to put my notice…

I’m so lucky I waited to put my notice in because I’ll be getting a nice severance of two months pay with full commission for both months (only been with the company for 5 months). About 13k gross. And now I’ll have two weeks off before I start my new job to just relax and do whatever I want.

Sometimes things just work out when you trust your instincts.
