I applied to be a bartender at a place in December. I have a decade of experience but have also bounced back and forth between that and social work. I get hired but told that if I want 4-5 shifts per week, I need to floor manage 1-2 nights per week. I agreed to, even though managers don’t get tips during their shift.
Fast forward to April and I am managing 3 closed per week and only bartending two opening shifts (less tips than closing).
On top of that, there are 3 bartenders that never have to manage and a brand new hire getting 3 bartending shifts per week, again no managing required of her.
Did I get lied to and totally screwed? I feel like it and don’t exactly know what to do about it but bounce to another bar that A) doesn’t make me work for 0 tips and B) keeps their word.
