The last time I did this my employer at the time asked me and I told them. Again, it was for a competing company so I definitely felt a lot of awkwardness the final two weeks. In my current situation; I wish I could give notice and just be done for a couple of weeks, but I know that’s not very professional. Any other tips appreciated when giving notice.
