I had sent an email to a lady in HR regarding the unpaid lunch breaks because I found out that they deducted half hour on top of the actual break I took and conveniently let her know that the boss said we could leave early that day but still get paid the full 8 hours in case there was a misunderstanding or she thought part timers don’t get full pay on the days we leave early. Anyways, I get told off at work because the HR lady forwarded my email to her. Apparently my email triggered her and was perceived as a threat to her power. In her own words, I was “questioning her authority” and my email meant that I didn’t trust her when she said we would get full pay that day and the fact that I had to email a subordinate of hers pushed her off the edge. It was a good 15 min of her berating me and repeating the same things over and over again and asking me why I would do such a stupid thing and me apologizing repeatedly saying I didn’t mean it that way. I tried explaining why I emailed that lady in the first place and said “people told me I could ask the HR lady for questions pertaining to hours and clocking in/out.” She asked me who exactly and I said I’m not naming names. She proceeded to say my coworkers name and she figured it out easily because I only knew that one coworker prior to this job.
I’ve only been here for less than a month and haven’t learned the ropes yet things have took a wrong turn. Now I need help with how to formulate a text to let her know I’m sick of the disrespect and want to quit (but professionally).
