Got called a bum by my boss at the $200 million resort I work at

So the story is a bit long but I’ll start from the beginning. I started work at a resort out in Death Valley California and it was already a bad job. The company provides discounted housing and 2 free meals a day, I was surprised to see when I first arrived that the housing provided was literally falling apart, I was forewarned to put a towel under my door otherwise I’d start finding scorpions in my room, I then found out that the building is literally collapsing and the doors don’t close because the foundation has shifted so much it has bent the building. I was then introduced to our atrocious shuttle system which runs sporadically and sometimes not at all and is my ONLY WAY TO GET TO WORK. I was then surprised a second time when I was introduced to the employee cafeteria, where I was warned that…

I was then surprised a second time when I was introduced to the employee cafeteria, where I was warned that they serve multiple days old food and I’ll need to be very careful as to not get food poisoning, this was all before my first actual day of work so I was already feeling the bad management vibe. The next day I had orientation where, as per usual, I heard about state and federal sexual harassment laws, what I didn’t expect was to then hear that the resort will do virtually nothing about it and that there are multiple employees who have been cited for sexual harassment and still work here. Continuing on through the day I can to meet my horribly mismanaged department, that is said to have caused nearly $100,000 in damages due to not caring for the many invasive plants that they have here at the resort and another $24,000 due to not watering our palm trees (also invasive), it’s at this point that our story really kicks off because that day, my first day of work, I asked for an employee uniform and I was told I will not receive one now or ever! They are indefinitely backordered because the manager doesn’t care about the department and won’t let us change our suppliers. Cool whatever if they don’t care I don’t. For the next month my arrival marked an uptick in my department, I fixed problems, made improvements, basically working my butt off to get things going smoothly. All is going well until a couple days ago I get my one month review and find that NONE of my work is reflected in my review and some of it states the exact OPPOSITE of my work, claiming that I wasn’t self motivating and needed to stop slacking off or I would be docked my 2 10 minute breaks per day. Pretty unhappy about that but I figured if I keep working hard they’ll start to respect me and I’ll get a better review soon. Well today I had a fun conversation with my department’s superintendent informing me that the resort’s general manager says I need to wear my employee uniform because I look like a bum. Cool, so the guy that asked for a uniform on day 1, worked his tail off trying to turn his department around, lives in a collapsing building, eats disgusting food every day, and works every day outside in the blazing heat, gets to hear about how he looks like a bum with the clothes he provided for work himself.

Our manager is like a renowned hotel manager and has an article on him by insider magazine about managing this place.

I’ve been in the workforce for nearly 3 years and I literally can’t afford to feed and house myself and the one job I finally find that has housing treats their employees like garbage and I get told by the general manager of the entire resort that I look like a bum.

TLDR: I work an important job at an expensive resort and got told I look like a bum by the guy in charge of the entire place.
