Got fired today, management cited BS reasons

This is just to vent about my current situation! I’m not looking for advice or anything, I thankfully don’t depend on having a job since I still live with my parents, but I just need to get some things off my chest and hope folks here will understand. So today, I unexpectedly got fired from my job. No previous warning, no anything, they just called me for a meeting and fired me. I had been expecting it for a while. Basically, to give a brief rundown: I worked in the tourism industry selling services. I got the job in May and the first months were great, but apparently, we weren’t making enough money to satisfy the company, so starting from September, they refocused the whole thing from something that I actually enjoyed doing to just sell, sell and sell.

And I’m very bad at that. So I was already expecting to be fired because I didn’t sell enough, and, to be honest, I wouldn’t have had any issue with that if they had been forward with that.

But they didn’t. Instead, they gave me a letter citing that they were firing me for “misbehaving”.

Some of the reasons cited were, among others:
– I sat down to take a break, during a six-hour shift, mind you (the new rules always require us to be standing up.)
– I refused to help my coworkers with tasks, which I always did (they specifically cited me not helping change the printer paper as an argument, which is… oddly specific.)
– This is the one that angered me the most. I have frequent migraines, and while I can often manage them, the stress of my job worsened them to the point that I had to leave work a total of two times to to go the ER. I provided my managers with letters from the doctors that saw me, and powered through many other shifts with a migraine. Their response? I used migraines as an excuse to hang out and party with my coworkers in the break room—if you could call chatting with a coworker for a minute and a half while I picked up my things and left “partying”.

I know that this entire post sounds biased, and I get it. But this isn’t the only horror story coming from my workplace. A coworker of mine was denied an extension of her contract because one (1) time, one of the managers saw her chatting with another coworker for two minutes (it’s a very common occurrence…)

I’m not mad about being fired. I’m not even mad about being fired because I didn’t sell enough. I’m angry because they somehow felt the need to completely misrepresent and smear me, painting me as lazy and disruptive in order to justify firing me when I’ve always tried to do my best. I know that I shouldn’t let it bring me down, but it is.
