Got hired 6 months ago and have done basically nothing in that time. Not sure what I’m supposed to do and at this point I’m too scared to ask

I’ve been collecting 40 hour paychecks and accruing PTO that whole time. I’ve basically been on paid vacation for 6 months. The job is doing the same thing as my old job. It’s a great opportunity, I’m the first person working in a new office, no supervision, should eventually lead nicely into an official managers title. My previous job had a lot of micromanagement and literal sabotage to prevent me from getting a raise beyond entry level pay even though I was basically running the department. It’s a great company and I actually want to work here (first time I’ve ever said that in my entire life). During hiring they offered me $1.50/hr more than I requested, which is $8.50/hr more than I was previously earning. They’re very generous with raises and PTO, the workload is reasonable (40 hours is assigned, up to 70 is possible but completely optional). Everyone…

Everyone I’ve met so far is legitimately happy to work for them.

I expected to get started immediately but was told after getting hired that my operations would take a few months to get set up. It’s just been such a slow moving process. I have no idea if I’m supposed to be reporting to my office each day (there’s absolutely nothing for me to do and no one for me to ask for clarification). I don’t even know if my job is secure. I work in a very niche field that’s incredibly difficult to hire qualified people for, so typically the job security is excellent but that obviously changes when there’s no work to do.

I have no idea how I’m ever going to start working again. I had gotten used to working 70+ hours a week but now even sitting in my office for 6-8 hours a day watching TV feels like too much
