This happened in July of last year.
So I worked for a mid sized bank, BokF, working cyber security. They didn’t provide cell phone, hot spots, anything. I was in a rotating “on-call” system, but it wasn’t calls, their version of service now only sent text messages.
Since we didn’t have work devices, I didn’t put my work email on my personal phone, but they did sign my cell phone into the system to be texted.
I was complaining to HR about this, about how text messages didn’t wake me up. My boss’s suggestion was to get some metal song as my text tone (again, my personal device) and he advised me that I had 5 minutes to respond to text messages or there would be actions against me.
Then I started getting calls and texts from employees that just looked up my number in service now during my off hours. Even when I wasn’t on call.
I have my daughter for half of June and half of July,
In June, I was allowed to work remotely while I had her. July after some complaining, I was required to take vacation when I had my daughter due to no local part time/drop in child care.
Came back from vacation and I guess they had it with me, about how I wasn’t using my personal items to their full potential for this 50 billion dollar a year bank, so I received a month’s pay and a small severance. Haven’t been happier since.
Over all, avoid BokF at all costs.
