TLDR: I’m getting “offered” a different position due to staff changes. It’s more hours with no guarantee pay. Not sure if I should take it or risk getting fired.
I’ve been at a sales job for about 9 months already. I was hired by a previous boss but he was fired about 4 months after I was hired. I was hired as a online sales manager, but with the new boss my position was basically erased and I just floated as a one person department. However I made sure I had my pay(salary) and schedule (10hr shifts) set up before so I was okay during the boss change transition.
They ended up hiring someone to “help” me but they’re paying her less and she’s working more hours so I’ve essentially become useless.
Today they just “offered” me a different position because my department has no need for two people. If I say yes it comes with a pay change (commission) plus more hours (12+ shifts) and if I say no there’s almost a guarantee I get fired.
I’d also go from working a desk job to partially working outside. So taking this position will definitely be taking a step back, but not taking it will leave me without a job.
