Got told to shut up and stop complaining

I was recently investigated by the executives of the company I'm employed by. Their reason was that they didn't like my handling of a HR complaint that I dealt with. The complaint was handled but they didn't like not being included in every little thing I deal with because they're super paranoid and untrusting. So the execs started digging for dirt and handled it exceptionally badly just winging it the whole way and not following any procedures or policy. The investigation first attempted to gather evidence against me but in the end showed I handled the complaint well enough and the person that made the complaint was happy with the outcome. It was clear the review was an attempt to find wrong doing against me, which is fine really because I handle everything ethically, legally, and thoroughly by the book with lots of best practice thrown in there. However, the…

However, the executives completely denied it was to investigate me and they always believed I'd done the right thing. How they think they can gaslight me into believing this is laughable. But they've been bullies for so long they only have a hammer and every problem is a nail. Screw that. Anyway, I was asked to put in writing to the person that made the complaint that everything was fine, but I refused since it was an investigation into me and if I'd done something wrong. Just weird but their paranoid delusions are probably to blame; don't want their names on a letter I'm assuming. They met with me and told me to just do the letter and not complain because complaining is a bad look! It's ironic my own complaints handling process and objections were so poorly handled by the execs, yet I was investigated. Now the person that I handled the complaint for (and resolved it satisfactorily) has asked how to go external to make a complaint to a third party authority because they got freaked out by the executives digging for more info on me. At least I've protected myself, but I can't protect these idiot execs who have it in for me. If you work in HR I recommend professional indemnity insurance in case you need independent legal advice! I fully expect the employer to drop me in a heart beat if this blows up and I'll have to defend myself. The joys of HR work when morons are in charge and don't care about the people their actions impact on. Can't wait to see how this all pans out.
