When I got fired for telling off the boss/owner for paying his employees like crap, stealing our tips (I was a bartender) to supplement their income, break health code laws, and not handle basic business necessities the owner said “I'm not going to pay you. I don't respect you and you don't respect me. Get a job” when I asked if he'd fight my unemployment.
I already had a job but it is a sales job that is commission only and required 3 months of un-paid training so I was trying to make it until I made my first paycheck before i quit. He was right though, I didn't respect him. I don't even need the money now but I really enjoy spending it as 1 more fuck you.
Moral of the story, try and get fired, don't quit. It might feel better in the short term but having the last laugh when you cash the unemployment checks is totally worth it in my experience.
