So yesterday at work I had some fully loaded scaffolding collapse on me while I was under it. It landed flat across my neck, head, and shoulders. I'm pretty sore and stiff and have a nasty bruise, but I have full range of movement. I'm going to get checked out by my chiropractor today.
I know my workplace is treading water, it's been a year of the owner catching up. I know that a workmans comp claim will put them out of business and the whole staff would lose their jobs. I really hope that my neck is not badly injured, but if I have a neck fracture I will have no choice.
My boss has told me that a w.c. claim will make her shut down the business. She made sure to tell me that her plate is so full, she would have to shut down the business, and is offering to give me a week off with pay along with paying my doctors bills. I have a feeling if I went that route I would be let go the day after the period to report a workplace injury ends.
I like my job, and love the people. And I really dont think my boss would do that but I wanna prepare for the worst because I know as a worker I am replaceable and itd be no sweat off her back.
Any advice for what I should do here?
Edit: thank you to those with advice, the people being rude; I'm scared and have never had something this serious happen at work. I'm fucking terrified. Please give me a little slack.
