So I got an email a couple days ago saying that I'm now the Agile Working Coordinator. No one told me in advance, no one discussed it with me, no warning, NOTHING.
Apparently, my job is to develop a plan with my team to make sure everyone spends at least 50% in the office starting in April. So I have to go around getting their specific days they're going to be in office and have it approved by HR. Absolutely ridiculous and asinine.
Just had a meeting with HR about this. There's no flexibility at all. If there's a snowstorm on the day you're supposed to be in office, either get your ass to the office or take a vacation day. WE LIVE IN CANADA. No half days. Another person on the call pointed out that her husband has cancer so working from home has made it easy for her to look after him and work. HR just said “we all have things we need to work around”.
The people in HR have really been drinking the koolaid. They kept going on and on about how we're so lucky that we can work from home some days and how they never thought they'd see the day. Nevermind that the majority of jobs at my firm can be done perfectly fine at home.
And on top of that, my direct boss wants me to be in office more then 50% because I'm “young”, so that the other assistant who is pretty much a fossil, won't have to come into the office at all. Screw me and my health issues right?
I've been searching for another job for a while now, as the writing has been on the wall for a while. I should hear back today or tomorrow whether I got this one job, going for a second interview for a different job next week, and had someone reach out to me from the government to schedule an interview for a position in that department.
I'm done with my current firm. Everything about them sucks. There was no training platform for when I got hired, my boss is a lunatic, the technology is outdated by at least 10 years, and now this nonsense forcing us back to the office. They're going to lose so many people.
