Over the years, I've experienced harassment from a supervisor because of my sexual orientation. Unfortunately, it's not an isolated incident, as others have also witnessed this supervisor engaging in sexual harassment toward others. Despite wanting to report this behavior to HR, there's apprehension due to the supervisor's seniority and age, having been with the company since 2010 and being part of the baby boomer generation. Most of my coworkers belong to younger generations, such as Generation X, Millennials, and Generation Z. I'm worried about retaliation for speaking out due to my actions.
The supervisor frequently frightens me by shouting my name and poking me in the sides, actions which are unique to me. Others have also observed this behavior. The supervisor is using their position of power to their advantage and is becoming increasingly comfortable with their inappropriate behavior. The crude jokes and memes they share from their phone are becoming more difficult to tolerate, and it's starting to affect the well-being of me and others in the workplace.
