I’ve accepted a position for a demanding role last week. They practically begged me to join the team with how quick my interviews went by and how they were back-to-back, and they quickly offered me a salary much higher than what I was expecting. I was reached for the position from an in-house staff specialist for them who came to know of my profile from an application I submitted for the company months ago.
Now, I’ve started this role and I’m expected to fully immerse myself with the team and to catch up 3 months of work in ~2 weeks. Our project due date is in 90 days about. When accepting the offer it came with a clause that I had to go through an introductory period first (which is 90 days) and that the company could terminate me at any time.
I can’t help but feel as if I was lured in to this position by being promised an impressive full-time offer when the company may just want me to hustle my behind off these first 90 days because they may be the only 90 days I’ll be working for them.
Has anyone ever been in this situation before? Am I overthinking? What should I do and what is a good tip to always be protected in my career prospects.
Position is an upper-level IT position.
