Have misbehaving children? Send them over to paint my fence!

So I saw a post from one of my neighbors and thought it belongs here. Neighbor trying to completely avoid actually paying someone to stain their fence: Attention Neighbors! Have your children been misbehaving and need to be punished? Or are they spending too much time on their cell phones and computers? I have the perfect solution! I just had my fence redone and in a couple weeks it needs to be stained. Staining one panel seems like an adequate afternoon punishment – I imagine most kids can complete it in 1 to 3 hours. I will provide water and snacks. Cost of materials is up and can no longer afford to pay someone to do this, and I am in no shape to to do it myself. Attention Neighbors!

This may seem like an odd request – but see – I am nearing 60, and have always in the back of my mind wanted to be a sort of “Mr. Miyagi” of the neighborhood. Teach the disobedient kids some life lessons they will always remember. Maybe 15, 20 years from now they will come over and have a beer with me when I am elderly and reminisce about the time their parents sent them over to stain a fence panel or two. Maybe it will even be a turning point in some of their lives! I see the antics some of them get up to just in the neighborhood, boy do some of them need direction!

If your interested let me know. I have the stain and paint brushes ready to start end of this month. Water and snacks provided of course – just don't allow them to bring cell phones or music. Part of the punishment is to complete this chore in silence. This allows them to ruminate on their mistakes and make better decisions! Oh, I also have a poster board each kid that helps can sign that I plan to save. Maybe some of them will enjoy seeing it later on!
