Have you been exploited by a company as an intern or as a new hired candidate? If yes, how?

I've been interning for a company (remote internship) as a visual designer and I get paid approximately $4.5 an hour, which, I feel is low, even though I'm still an intern. I've been told multiple times that my work rivals even that of seasoned designers who've been working for 10+ years in this field, yet, I feel I'm getting paid peanuts. I work while also managing my uni work and other stuff, so I work only 2 or 3 hours a day. Overall, in a month, it comes down to 55 hours of work, which means I earn approx $250 per month. Compared to the amount of effort I feel I put in, and the mindshare I devote, I feel I'm really getting exploited, but I am not sure if I am really in the wrong here or not!
