healthcare – sick leave rules?

I just got a doctor note to submit for sick leave. I work in healthcare and I have a permanent casual position that's still my home base unit but I'm currently working temporary contract in another department. I'm thinking of resigning from my temporary contract position and just going back to my casual permanent position. Can I still do that while on sick leave? Does anyone know
