Background: I live in Texas and have been working for my current employer for over a year and generally like what I do and find it fulfilling. In February, I asked for a salary adjustment and was given a 5% increase with the possibility of getting 6% if I promised some things. I later found out that some of my colleagues who started around the same time as me got raises of 8% to 12%. One colleague who I trained got a 7% increase despite having worked for half the time I have and still coming to me for help. I feel insulted that I am not getting paid as much as my colleagues, even though I am often the go-to person for quick and efficient work and have trained many of my coworkers.
I started applying for jobs elsewhere and have received two offers.
-
Job 1 is fully remote, and seems more fulfilling overall with good benefits.
-
Job 2 pays more, which would make things financially more comfortable for me, but it may not be as fulfilling.
I'm not sure if I should ask for a raise at my current job, take the first job with better benefits and a more fulfilling role, or take the second job with more pay but potentially less fulfillment. I know money is not everything and a fulfilling role would make me happy, BUT also being more financially comfortable would also make me happy as well. It's a bit of a difficult decision for me.
