I have been working for this company for close to a year and my time there has been tumultuous to say the least. Shortly after starting my direct manager resigned and I had to take on the majority of her workload. A replacement was only hired 4 months later and with growth of the wider business, the new manager has assumed a completely different set of responsibilities, leaving me with the responsibilities of my original manager, plus my own. I had started discussing a pay review with the department head who has since been replaced.
I asked to continue the discussion with the new department head but this was denied, despite acknowledgment that I am stretched far too thin. I'm not keen to wait another few months to revisit this. Whilst I understand they are new to the business and it's a crappy time for me to push for a review, I feel that my role has compounded to the point where the options are pay rise to match my new responsibilities, or I walk.
I find these conversations extremely difficult and the avoidant part of me just wants to hand in my resignation letter.. Any advice is appreciated!
