I am not sure if this is the right subreddit, and if it is not, I apologize.
I work for a small company (about 50 employees). This company is in the transportation industry.
When I was given a promotion I told my employer that I have a mental health condition. I disclosed this because when I am stressed, symptoms flare. I was reassured it was not an issue. We entered recruiting territory and I went from working 40 hours a week to 60. My symptoms flared.
Boss pulled me in for an impromptu performance review and told me that I was “Off the Reservation” and that “people with your condition don't keep jobs” among other things. I reported this immediately to his wife who is HR and stepping out of the position (that I am taking.) I approached it as a hey, this was not appropriate, we can't do this, it violates EEOC and ADA etc. Can we discuss this?
On Monday they pulled me into a meeting, made me leave my phone out of the room and gaslit me, that none of this was said, that it was my word against theirs, that I took it out of context, that if my disability as public knowledge they could say what they wanted (not true). It ended with them asking me what I expected out of this meeting. I said I wanted an apology and training for management. I got a half assed apology.
Now since this meeting, I have been slightly demoted. Originally the wife was leaving and I'd take over her position. Now she's not and I'm being moved into “recruiting and safety and other stuff”. Do I have some things in writing? Yes.
The owner has been hostile with me since then, including yelling at me for something minor and asking me what the f they pay me for anyway. He never did this before. I'm also being excluded from management meetings I was a part of before.
I am privy to some interesting bits of knowledge and need help, because while I do not intend to leave (FIRE ME), I want to bring these people to justice or make them miserable in some small way.
1) They take overpayments from customers and keep them. They never notify the company that they overpaid or ask them how they want to apply the credits. They “let them sit for 6 months or so” then keep them.
2) they fire a large amount of black employees and contractors. the person in charge of operations said “it seems like I fire a lot of them, it's just their attitude! I'm not racist, I have a black grandson!”
3) They falsify reasons why they fire people to avoid paying unemployment. They currently are paying out two people they fired quietly because they were threatened with a lawsuit.
Yes, I am aware I'm being petty. No, I do not care. I'm tired of being over worked and not appropriately paid. I'm tired of condescending little comments. I am tired of them taking advantage of people.
