Hey y'all,
I'm a Grade 12 student in Canada and I've got a dilemma.
In my province the minimum wage is $15/hr (CAD), however the minimum wage for minors is $13/hr (CAD).
I've got some previous work experience:
– Youth basketball referee (3 years)
– Election Information Officer (Temporary)
I've had friends with similar work experience land jobs at $15/hr, however I haven't had any luck with the jobs I've applied for. Everyone I've talked to thinks my resume is good.
My dad is telling me to apply at $13/hr and that I'll get a raise shortly thereafter, however I think they would keep me at $13/hr as long as they can. I'm not entirely sure if it's worth working at $13/hr but I want to have some money saved for university and other spending money.
What is y'all's opinion? Should I apply at $13/hr or $15/hr, Is it even worth working? Also any tips y'all have for working I'd love to hear them.
Thanks.
Addendum(s)
($13 CAD = $9.86 USD)
($15 CAD = $11.38 USD)
Everything does cost more up here unfortunately.
