My wife received her first shipment of Enbrel in the mail yesterday and we got the receipt upon arrival. Her copay was $40 but the retail was $6000 for a one month supply of just four doses. Yes that is correct, six thousand dollars.
We decided to search the highest cost by country and learned that the next closest country in cost, Germany, wasn’t even close at $1600 with most under $1000.
It is absurd that this is allowed to go on in this country, and yet even more absurd that it it drives the overall healthcare costs. Capitalism at its finest….
