(Long story sorry)
I worked for a company (last day was yesterday) for over 5 years, the last 3.5 in IT. About a year and half ago I moved onto a team that had 1 other person on the team. This person was considered the “golden child” by our upper leadership and could do no wrong.
From day 1 on this team, this person was bad mouthing the prior person she had to train and work with and this continued for about 3 months. There was little to no training from her, just her constantly complaining about this other person. One day I finally just said I heard enough about how bad this person was and needed help figuring out this new system we were suppose to be working on. From that moment on her sights were set on me and for next year she went out of her way to make sure I failed at my job, pointed out every little mess up of mine on department meetings to everyone else.
After a year of this I finally got sick and tired of it and explained to our new boss what had been happening, showed him emails from her basically saying not only would she not help me with anything but I was an idiot for asking. Thinking I might finally get some relief since he was new and might finally help, crap was I wrong!!
Not only did nothing change it got worse! She started using only IMs to communicate with me since we don’t track or keep those backed up, now everyday she is basically pointing out if I did something she didn’t think was right and just on and on.
Bonus is its review time, new manager gives me a stellar review saying I had nothing to work on everything was good, but since he was new the old manager was deciding the actual raise amount. She is the old managers favorite employee so what happens?? We have a company standard 3% raise but it can be a little more or a little less usually to something like 2.5 or 3.5%. The old manager gave me a 1% raise!! I asked our new manager why and was only given lame excuses about company costs so everyone got lower than normal raises, not thinking we don’t all talk about raises, I know some folks got 4% or 3.5 etc but no one said they got lower than 2.5%.
End of story I finally got fed up with it all got a new job and let HR know everything that happened and can finally just walk away from it all.
