I will spare you the history of that specific land development in my hometown. But when we heard that Panera was going in everybody was excited. I had given it a couple of years so That specific location would get its act together. I had applied and got requested for an interview! On the application it asked if I live more than 15 mi away, and not answering yes would disqualify me. I answered no, although I lived 15.5 miles away and driving down would not be out of the way for me. I had gone 15 minutes early and was made aware that there were two other people ahead of me also waiting for an interview. I had waited and had food for a good 45 minutes before she came to my table. She said that she was behind and apologized. The interview went well (I think), but I did let her know that the 15 Mile radius should not count as that particular location was in a very retail oriented area filled with offices and businesses, and that since I'm in the area anyway The rule should not apply. I had asked her since it's 3-day weekend when I should hear back and she began to trip over her words and stutter looking away as if she's grasping for a reason. She then begins to tell me that I should hear back on Tuesday or Wednesday. I call back on Thursday, and I was told that the positions have been filled. Fine! I asked for a manager, and she began screaming at me saying that she didn't know who I was, who I interviewed with or that I applied at all. When I asked if she could write a letter for me to give to social security disability, she began screaming at me even more saying that All she has to do is sign something T H A T S I T. Before hanging up on me. 2 years later I hear from a deaf friend and her husband that They were denied BOH employment by Panera for being deaf.
