My mom worked for a small company for the past 6 years. The company consisted of her, the owner (the boss I want to convince her to block), the owner's father, and the owner's wife. She mainly worked with Quickbooks. From what I understand, they treated her well for the most part, as well they should've since she busted her ass for them. She worked after she was in a major car accident that shattered her wrist (with some help from me, but still), gave up time with her family to help them, and dealt with the owner's terrible punctuality. They hardly ever gave raises, and by the time she left she was only making $4 more per hour than when she started. Every time she asked, they gave her the runaround “oh we're working on it” type of response.
Eventually my mom got a job offer from another company that offered her significantly higher pay. She spoke to the owner about the offer and once again requested a raise for all the work she's been dealing with. They refused again. So she left. She did everything a good wage slave is supposed to do. She gave them a month notice, and helped train a replacement. She left that company three months ago. To this very day, the owner and his wife still blow up her phone almost daily asking for help with various different things. Apparantly the replacement they hired quit shortly after my mom left because they couldn't handle the workload the owner expected them to deal with (I guess that asshole is finally starting to understand just how much work my mom did). He repeatedly asks for passwords & pin numbers (that he really ought to know since he's the fucking owner lol), asks her to answer a question about Quickbooks for him or the new person they hired after my mom's replacement quit, and just bothers her in general about a bunch of shit.
This has been going on almost the entire time she's been gone. The worst part? My mom continues to help him, on top of doing the work her new job expects of her. Two weeks ago my mom sat in a three hour Zoom meeting with the owner and the new hire to help answer some questions about Quickbooks. The owner promised he'd pay her via Venmo for her time. He never did. When my mom asks about it, he ghosts her or dodges the question like the cheap fuck he is. I've tried so hard to explain to her that she doesn't owe them anything since she no longer works there, but she insists that they “treated me well during my time there, and it's rude to block them.” I tried getting her to understand that they're just going to keep taking advantage of her if she doesn't do something, but she just won't listen to me. What else can I do/say?
tl;dr: Mom's old boss keeps trying to take advantage of her even after she left the company. I'm trying to convince her to block him.
