How do happy/positive employees stay like that at all time?

I seriously want to know their thought process through unpleasant scenarios. For instance, if their plates are already overflowing with work, and their boss comes in and throws more work at them, with very tight deadlines. (And let’s say this happens frequently.) How do they remain happy and positive at times like that? Are they thinking that “at least they’re alive” or that there are people in worse situations (i.e.- there are people starving in 3rd countries)? I mean really, what’s their thought process in unpleasant situations like the above? Just really curious.
