I’m working for a large company in their warehouse and it’s got to be one of the most depressing, back breaking, soul destroying jobs going. Everyone I’ve spoken to hates it.
What I don’t get is how the older people do it, 60+ men and women lifting crates of potatoes above their head and leaning at all angles in a chilled warehouse for 40 hours per week blows my mind. My back, neck and ankles are absolutely obliterated after one week. I’ve trained for half marathons, lift weights regularly and hike often but nothing can prepare my body for this kind of punishment. I’m young and relatively fit which is kind of annoying as they’re putting me to shame lol
I know every warehouse is different because I’ve worked in a few but they’re all pretty similar from what I can gather.
How do people do it for so long?
I want out asap which is why I’m doing other things in my spare time but some of these guys have spent 30 years doing this job for minimum wage. I must respect their grind and determination to put bread on their table because honestly I’d end my life if this was my whole future. It’s not living, just pure survival.
