There was a meetings of higher ups (one of them I’m friends with told me about it privately). Like many, we are having staffing issues. So their focus is going to be on retention. Making us happy.
This is government though, so money is not necessarily an option.
I was told people are motivated by money, time, and food. Like, people get super excited and happy if they know once a month lunch will be provided.
I was taken aback by that. Sure, I’ll take a free lunch. But motivated in terms of retention? Hell no. Give me more time, and I may be willing to sacrifice a possible higher salary somewhere else. Give me more money, and I’ll sacrifice possibly a little more time.
A free lunch wouldn’t get me to give up time or money.
My dog will do tricks for food. I’m not my dog.
