I’ve been at my job for 2 years now and it’s honestly been a pretty miserable experience. I work in a lab and have been more or less stuck here because there aren’t a lot of job opportunities in my field where I live. In the 2 years I’ve worked here I have called out 5 times. I don’t feel like this is an excessive amount, but HR has told me I’m in violation of the attendance policy and if I call out one more time I’ll be let go.
This just seems like bullshit to me. I pick up overtime all of the time because we are chronically understaffed and come in every time they call me. I’ve been stuck working overnights this entire time even though I wasn’t hired for it because of staffing issues and I feel like I’m going crazy.
I guess I’m just looking for insight if my employer just sucks or if I’m delusional about what’s acceptable in the workplace.
