Strange things have been afoot in my office. It is expanding so rapidly, I started unconsciously missing red flags that it may not be what I thought.
1) A month ago, payroll direct deposit stopped. They said it was because we are switching providers. Then we got a direct deposit.
2) This week, we were told it was going to be a paper check again, but we were getting it on Wednesday before the holiday. Oh, but don't try to cash it before Friday…
3) Then notified that the rest of the paychecks this year will be paper as well. Neat! I'm all about the Old School Vibe. I hope they bring back Miami Vice, too!
4) Now, with everyone out of the office until next week, we got an email that employees at my level will be getting fines taken out of our paychecks for not completing paperwork for clients. I take on so many during a day, I can't finish it all, so I just log on each weekend and dot the “I's” and cross those “T's”. Nobody noticed or cared so far. But with the new fines, I will be getting a bill every 2 weeks instead of one of those nifty, retro paper rectangles.
5) Checked my contract. It has language on how I can be fired, but nothing about fines or any other punishment.
6) Today, I had my doctor send a prescription to my pharmacy. They promptly called to ask if I had any other insurance. Why? Seems like my current employer sponsored plan was cancelled. I tried to log onto the insurance website and it just provided errors telling me to call the customer service office that is closed until Monday (good for them to get the holiday weekend off!).
Time to update my CV?
I'm just going to be over here working on my CV… no reason. (It's not about any of these new policies… I swear. Just a coincidence…)
