How should I handle this cell phone vs VOIP issue at work?

Something happened at work recently. I am a pre-sales engineer for a software company. I've been with the same company 10 years in various roles and during that time I've kept my cell phone number very private. Recently I shared my number with 2 new team members and let them know it was for them for emergencies. Every sales guy tells me it's no big deal but every other engineer says it's messed up. On top of that my management team wants us to get business cards and they want cell numbers instead of desk phones. I have no desire to have customers calling me directly during off hours so I guess my question is this: Should I have to allow customers to have access to a cell phone not paid for by my employer? The same employer also only offered $25 reimbursement for internet while working from home but requiring network speeds that cost upwards of $100 in my area and has not offered any Phone plan reimbursement despite wanting to require my cell phone to be an extension of the business.
