For someone not in a union but who plans to strike along with those who are doing so in protest on Monday, how would you suggest wording it? There are many issues, particularly for worker rights, that we should have probably had a general strike over by now. However, this is pretty clearly a reaction to the continuing abuse of our bodily autonomy and freedom by the illegitimate high court in this country.
So I was thinking of something along the lines of, “In protest of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and in solidarity with the working class everywhere, I will be on strike and not coming into work today.”
Any suggestions, should I say I'm joining (insert coworker name(s) here), or should I remove the word “strike” since I have no union protections, or simply call off work with no reason given…?
I really wish we'd done this in the summer of 2020, but in this moment when at least some others across the nation will finally be striking together, I have to join in support.
EDIT: I don't want to clutter the message too much but I'm thinking I should add the ruling that strips our ability to sue police for violating Miranda rights.
