How to deal with a male boss that avoids me

First off, I don’t think it’s a performance issue. He constantly gives me praises in private as well as in front of the company senior leadership team. He also helped me out and had my back many times when I asked him to back me up. When I asked him for feedback for improvement, he said there nothing else he could ask for everything else is great… But he has been acting super awkward lately for a few months, to the point Idk if I have done something wrong. I see him walk up to my other colleagues and have no problem talk about work or mention me lol..but with me, he will email me about work stuff when we are 10 feet away and I had to go into his office to ask clarification anyways. This happened more than 6 times. When I am in his office, he acts awkward as hell and tried to avoid direct eye contact.

What really annoys me was today I found out he has in person 1:1 with all his direct reports but with me it’s always on a call. Other than that, he’s a nice guy but I found this behavior super annoying. I want to have a candid conversation in our 1:1 meeting this week and straight up ask him of his preference in terms of communication style. I think it might be helpful for us to do more 1:1 in person so we can get more comfortable to be around each other.

Any advice you could give would be much appreciated.
