How to get over being too intimidated to request time off?

So I'll be starting a new job soon, and during the interview I asked questions about time off requests as I have a short trip planned in February. She waved it off and went “pfft yeah no problem, I'll approve it”, so it seems like no big deal to request and receive time off. My husband's family is now wanting to go on a trip in May, and a big part of me doesn't want to go simply because I'm afraid of asking for even more time off than I initially mentioned. I hate that this fear is engraned in me, I'm sure it most likely won't be a problem, but I still have the fear of making a “bad impression”.
