I’m a 28F, and I’m planning on giving my first 2-Week notice in a couple of days.
I had been a part-time sales associate for 2 years before getting promoted to coordinator.
However, I got an accidental foot injury on the job a couple weeks in. I tried to go to work after that, but I was in too much pain and I had to stay off my foot for 10 weeks. The company has covered my medical expenses, but they didn’t reimburse 72% of my paychecks due to me not meeting 1/3 of their requirements.
But I went back to work anyway on part-time for the last 5-6 weeks with a walking boot on. I still need help even now with some things but not everything.
However, my injury has taken too long to heal for the company to tolerate (despite it being a work-related injury).
And as a result my management has been asked to demote me back as a sales associate, cut back my pay (which was only a dollar increase per hour), and it was implied that they can’t trust me to do my job at all.
They even want me to take a leave of absence to recover so I won’t apply for jobs elsewhere, and come back to the part-time position.
This has been the final straw and I plan on giving my 2-week notice in a couple of days. Luckily my family members support me 100% on this decision, and they’ll help me find work.
But I don’t know how to tell my manager I’m quitting respectfully, without getting overwhelmed by the anger I’m feeling, and not be influenced by them trying to keep me at the store.
I know they’ll try it because they have inventory coming up after the holidays but I honestly don’t care about that. I’m just done.
So if you all have any advice I would appreciate it.
