So I’m from Texas and for years it’s been known that our local Whataburger takes advantage of their high school workers. It happened to my ex-bf from high school five years ago when he worked there; their policy is supposed to only schedule the high schoolers until 11pm or so but they would have them leave way past midnight.
Right now I know someone in high school who’s been sick with maybe the flu and a pink eye and the other day they still made him come to work. To give an example of their assholery, his manager was bragging to a customer about him and his Employee of the Month jacket when the customer had pointed out that he looked extremely tired, to which the manager said something along the lines of “yeah but he knows he needs to be here.”
And right now that high school boy thinks he dislocated shoulder at work and he knows if he tells them his situation they’ll still make him come to work.
This kid is sweet, sometimes almost to a fault. He doesn’t know how to say no so they’ve become reliant on his attendance. I was thinking of leaving a review on Google but I want this to reach their corporate workers. I wouldn’t trust the regional managers, from what I’ve seen living and working where I am, they’re just as complicit. Any feedback or resource would be very much appreciated
