Hustle culture at my tattooing job

I’ve worked hard to become a tattooer, because I have always loved to draw and been decent at it. After 3 years of apprenticing, I am finally able to tattoo. I love what I do but everyone seems to expect me to do it 7 days a week. I’ve settled for 6 and I’m still working on reducing it to 5, but even where I’m at now I feel like my colleges make comments about how I should be here “all the time”. A few days ago a coworker asked me if I was going to be open the tattoo I was about to start on. It was 7pm We close at 8pm, and so I said “I’m not sure it depends how long it takes me” . His response was “ well I’m going to be taking walkins till 1am”. There’s been other times too, that’s just the most…

There’s been other times too, that’s just the most recent. I’m glad to do this but I wish that I wasn’t being judged so badly for wanting a life out side of it too. Which I kind of don’t even have right now… my one day off A week is for errands and cleaning at home.
