Hypothetically, if there were more hours in a day, would companies require their workers to work more hours to make up for it?

Most companies don't care much about their workers and want to extract as much labor out of people as possible with as little money to maximize profits as alot of us know. The typical hours in the US is about 8 to 9 hours a day with the 24 hours we have on a day. If somehow we had for example, 32 or 40 hours in a day, do you think companies would see that as an opportunity to extract more hours out of peoples' days? In my personal opinion, if there were more hours in a day, I think it would be a useless wish for most workers because companies would just extract more hours to make up for it.
