Had a second-round interview this week with a company I would’ve been a good fit for. They wouldn’t have been the best for me, but I’m a few months into a post-layoff job search and I’m fed up. So I ignored a few red flags.
Come out of the interview, which was an 80-minute trek across the city, thinking it had gone quite well (but still a bit concerned… they let me know in this interview that it’s a strictly on-site role despite it being pitched as hybrid).
Next day, I get an email from the recruiter who headhunted me saying they did like me but they didn’t like that I hadn’t signed up for their product. It’s a financial services company. An unregulated one at that. They said I didn’t want it enough because I didn’t download their app and connect my bank account.
So I withdrew my application.
It doesn’t sound like much but when I say I’ve let these companies make me their bitch for the last few months…
It’s a little win and I’ll take it.
