Whenever I try to commiserate with my fellow teachers, all I get is virtue signaling from them. No one can seem to understand why I don’t like my job. It is so taboo for a teacher to express how little they enjoy teaching or dealing with students. “You don’t like a room full of 15 year olds all at once? You must be a horrible person. I love my students, and they love me.”
Well, I don’t love my students. And I don’t love my job.
I’ve tried to look for encouragement to leave from people outside the field, and even they don’t understand.
But, where else am I going to get 2 months off every year? Where else am I going to get 2 weeks off for Christmas and a week off for Thanksgiving?
This is what makes it so confusing. I don’t like teaching, but everything else sucks too.
