For reference I am in the process of getting diagnosed with a disability, and I use a cane. I have notation from my doctor in the mean time to allow me to have reasonable accommodation at work.
I work in fast food, and the floors of the kitchen are too slippery to use my cane, so I spend 8 hrs almost everyday without being able to use my mobility aid and it’s becoming detrimental to my health. I asked my general manager if I could spend my shifts at first window with a stool taking orders and payment, so that I’d be out of the way and wouldn’t be killing myself trying to do this job. She said that she’d talk to our hr person, but it’d be unfair the to other staff who also have to stand for 8 hrs and that they might follow me if I’m given reasonable accommodation.
So, I, a person who is in the process of getting diagnosed with a physical disability, can’t get reasonable accommodation for said disability because it would be unfair to the able bodied staff. Wtf.
