I had this WhatsApp convo with my former boss. I am not posting screenshot because it is in my native language and I am too lazy to put the translation in pictures
Background: I quit a job 1 months ago (with the law set 2 month announcement period which can be waived only by the employer). I got simply better offer and they did not bother to make a counter offer, on the opposite they said “Yea, leave we have 10 others like you waiting at the gate to be hired”
This is the convo I had today:
Exboss: Hello, we would like to ask you if you would train the replacement we just hired, it would take just a couple of hours each day for couple of weeks and you could do it over Zoom.
Me: Yeah, tell [REDACTED] to send me a part-time contract and I will do the training. I am now worth 20eur per hour and please put in the contract it must be done between 6-10, Mo-We ONLY.
Exboss: You left your work unfinished and your folders are unorganized. Any normal person with any sense of work etiquette would finish what he started as an honorable thing to do and you even have the guts to ask for money for work we already PAID you to do and you did not?
Me: Why should I care? I was in a 2-month period which is exactly there for a reason to find a replacement
Exboss: If you do not I will talk with your new employer about who he lets in his house.
Me: You do that, I do not have interest to have anything to do with you after this. Bye
Now my question is… what is exactly work etiquette?
