“I am using one of my PTO days this upcoming Monday…” “Are you asking or telling?”

I posted here a few days ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/x4ifgs/how_do_you_take_pto/ Today I messaged my boss that I am using one of my PTO days next week and that I remember they said they get an email when I request PTO, but I am “letting them know anyway!” In case they forgot since I requested it in the system a while back. My usually super laid-back boss writes, “are you asking or telling me?” I was speechless for a few minutes and did not know what to type back, and then he deletes the message thinking I didn't see it. Not sure why I'm posting here other than to say that this made me so sad/embarrassed and I'm getting “radicalized” against corporate America by literally the day. Did I not earn this PTO? I don't ask for part of my paycheck – why ask for PTO that I earn?
